Midweek Mish-Mash: Comedians, suicides, fashion designers, and a couple of Bradys...

Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated comedian turned talk show host turned game show host Wayne Brady shelled out $1.75 million for an recently refurbished three bedroom and 3.5 bathroom condo in Pacific Palisades (above).

For what it's worth—and it ain't worth a damn thing—the chevron pattern reclaimed white oak wood floors and the ocean view from the sky-lit great room and the sun-flooded terrace are pretty dang magnificent. (L.A. Times)

We learned from The Bizzy Boys at Celebrity Address Aerial that Mister Brady moved from Sherman Oaks (CA), where in late March (2013) he sold an architecturally mortifying mock-Med macmansion for $1.8 million. Unfortunately for Mister Brady, he paid $2.55 million for the five bedroom and five bathroom hillside pile back in December 2005.

Poor Olivia Newton-John. In May (2013) she and her nutritional supplement selling husband, John Easterling, listed their Jupiter Inlet (FL) house for $6.2 million. Along came frequent real estate buying and selling comedienne/actress/talk show host/magazine editor/etc. Rosie O'Donnell a who agreed to purchase the approximately 6,400 square foot water front residence (above) for around $5.5 million. A little birdie told Your Mama that Miz O'Donnell planned to raze the existing residence or, at the very least, give it a significant do over but we can't verify the veracity of that scuttlebutt. Anyways, before the deeds and documents were were signed, sealed and delivered a contractor hired to fix a few things shot himself on the property. Rosie got spooked and, despite an (alleged) spiritual cleansing organized by Miz Newton-John, has officially backed out of the purchase. It's back to square one one Miz Newton-John and Mister Easterling who put the house back on the market with a familiar $6.2 million price tag. (Gossip Extra)

After an estimated $75 million dollars spent, Calvin Klein's brand, spanking new ocean front compound in Southampton, NY (above), is just about finished and it sounds pretty damn spectacular...if beach side glass pavilions and ocean side swimming pools  are your thing. (The New York Times)

Speaking of fashion designers, Phillip Lim took a short term lease at $11,000 per month for a beautifully appointed two bedroom and two bathroom apartment (above) in a boutique building in the West Village while he awaits renovations on the combination of two apartments in a boutique building in SoHo. Check the sublime leather wrapped door knobs. Yummy.

Property records show Mister Lim paid $2.285 million for one of his SoHo apartments in October 2007 and $1.85 million for the other one in December 2011. (The Real Deal)

The 2,500 square foot London flat that famously flamboyant fashion designer Alexander McQueen owned and was in the process of renovating when he hanged himself in 2010 has come up for sale with an asking price of £7.25 million.

The Mayfair area apartment was purchased the year after Mister McQueen's suicide by a property development company who completed the renovations, although not, it would seem, to the specifications of Mister McQueen who had much more risqué taste than the obviously high quality but somewhat generically sleek, five-star hotel-like interiors seen in listing photos.

The pedigreed property was reportedly once occupied by author P.G. Wodehouse as well as an un-named grandson of Queen Victoria. (The Daily Mail)

Country music star Brad Paisley and his actress wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, sold their three bedroom and three bathroom residence in Pacific Palisades residence for $2.5 million.

Mister and Missus Paisley also own several residences in the Nashville, TN area including a secluded mansion in the semi-rural Berrys Chapel area about half way between Nashville and Franklin. (Zillow)

Although a slew of juicy photographs of Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's Richard Landry-designed 14,000 square foot faux chateau in an exclusive gated enclave in Los Angeles were accidentally leaked by their A-list builder in early August (2013)—the photos have since been removed from the builder's website—Architectural Digest went ahead with a planned story about the deluxe, eco-minded mansion mansion. In the article the supermodel mother of two (and step-mother to another) states the jet-setting couple aimed for "simplicity and coziness." Simple? All due respect to Missus Brady but bitch, pleeze. Fer chrissakes, the driveway crosses over a small pond before it gets to motor court paved with reclaimed cobble stones and a koi-stocked moat that's crossed by a stone bridge. Simple. Right. Did Daniel Craig Do It in Spilsby?

In March (2013) there were a handful of unverified reports in local media outlets that well-compensated British actor Daniel Craig—he's set to haul in an astonishing £31,000,000 for the next two installments of the never-ending franchise—had been spotted peeping pastoral properties near the market town of Beverley (Yorkshire), several hours by car north of London. Starting sometime in late July there was a shit-ton of speculation in the U.K. that the suave, 45-year old superstar and his Oscar-winning wife, Rachel Weisz, might be the supposed buyers of Dalby Hall Estate, a baronial, 19th-century country estate near Spilsby (Lincolnshire), about 145 miles north of London's Buckingham Palace that was abruptly taken off the market right around the time of the July rumors began.

The estate agent for Dalby House since clarified the situation; Although the genteel property—more like a small village than what we Americans think of as an estate—was indeed withdrawn from the market it is not—or was not then, anyways—under offer. Mister Craig's people also put the kibosh the quickly ballooning real estate scuttlebutt saying their client hadn't even been in the U.K. at the time of this supposed house hunting.

Whatever the case, we thought it might be a bit of a hoot to have a look at what all the hullabaloo was all about since our occasional (and much appreciated) U.K.-based aide-de-camp Flower Perfectbush recently directed us towards the still-accessible digital marketing materials that show the 1,050-ish acre Dalby Hall spread was last listed with a guide price—that's an asking price in British real estate speak—of £12,000,000.*

The existing house, a grandly proportioned, Grade II listed edifice (and ancillary office and coach house) set privately amid mature park lands, was designed by vaunted Victorian-era ecclesiastical architect James Fowler and built in 1856 after the earlier iteration of Dalby Hall was destroyed by fire in 1841. Later alterations and additions were executed by another church architect, Gothic Revival specialist Temple Moore.

Our boozy study of the floor plan included with above mentioned marketing materials indicates the almost 10,000 square foot mansion has four principal bedrooms on the second floor—each with private bathroom and four additional bedrooms in separate wing on the second and third floors that share two hall bathrooms. We counted a total of six full and four half bathrooms (or water closets), at least a dozen wood-burning fireplaces, and both front and rear staircases.

An elegantly scaled trio of reception rooms orbit around the central reception hall: A roomy library has paneled walls painted a particularly awful shade of salmon and bowed window bay with a direct view of the mansion's gravel fore court: The nearly 1,000 square foot drawing room—otherwise known by us folk across the Pond as a formal living room—has parquet floors and a second bowed window bay of epic proportions; A banquet hall-sized formal dining room has three over-sized sash windows that frame bucolic vistas out over the rolling lawns that stretch out behind the house.

More intimate living spaces on the main floor include a cozy snug—to be honest, Your Mama ain't sure what a snug is—with three curved windows set into another over-sized bowed window bay. The adjoining study connects through to the exceedingly long, L-shaped corridor that links the various areas of the service wing.

Speaking of the service wing, in addition to a small small but renovated kitchen and roomy adjoining breakfast room there's a laundry room bigger than most bedrooms, a walk-in larder, and a walk-in refrigerator. At the opposite end of the L-shaped service wing corridor there's a 20+ foot long boot room—Americanos would probably call it a mud room—with convenient half bathroom. The service wing wraps almost entirely around an interior courtyard off of which open a boiler room, gun room, water closet, and additional storage space.

The courtyard opens to a parking lot-sized motor court bordered by a coach house (above right) with garage space for four cars, a walk-in freezer room, workshop, storage, and a second floor games room. At a right angle to the coach house is the former stable block (above left), now fitted with generator, water filtration, and storage rooms and, on the second floor a pair of offices with a wee kitchenette in between.

Additional residential structures include the Fordington Farmhouse—two stories, 13 rooms, four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms—and six additional two- and three-bedroom cottages and a three-bedroom Tudor Gothic gatehouse lodge (above) also designed in the mid-1800s by James Fowler. A seventh cottage sits, according to marketing materials, semi-derelict with a "commanding position on the edge of the parkland."

The estate, a functioning farm with certified organic crop lands, unspoiled woodlands, and vast undulating grasslands grazed by a herd of organic cattle and a flock of Hebredian sheep, has three separate farmyards with more farm-related structures than we care to count. The manicured grounds that surround the house include extensive gardens and orchards, broad sweeps of rolling lawns, a tennis court with nearby summer house with changing rooms. A bit farther afield there's a multi-acre trout-stocked pond, an established shoot, an aviary, a free-range chicken run, and a private airstrip.

Whether they did or did not buy or even have or had the vaguest interest in Dalby Hall Estate, Mister Craig and Miz Weisz, combined, none-the-less possess an impressive property portfolio both in the U.S. and the U.K. Miz Weisz owns an 18th century farmhouse in upstate New York's Marbletown, near the historic village of Stone Ridge, that she previously shared with her ex-husband, Oscar-winning American filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, and recently renovated with her current husband who had a work out space installed on the property.

As far as we know—and we really know so very little—Mister Craig still owns a swank, two-floor apartment in the plummy, celebrity-saturated Primrose Hill area in North London that he scooped upin 2008  for about £3 million. And, as far as we know—and, again, we really know so very little—Mister Craig long ago decamped his Primrose Hill pad for the four floor townhouse, also in Primrose Hill, that Miz Weisz bought in 2008 for £3.25 million and previously shared with her ex-husband.

In late May, 2010, Mister Craig and his then long-time but now former lady-make, Satsuki Mitchell, were said to be in the process of acquiring a sun-soaked duplex townhouse in New York City's TriBeCa 'hood that was last listed for $1.995 million. Deeds and documents we peeped show three terrace penthouse pad is owned solely by Miz Mitchell who paid $1,781.937 for the one bedroom and two bathroom apartment that has been for lease a couple times over the last few years, most recently for five days in early July (2013) at a rate of $10,000 per month.

In early 2012 Miz Weisz's ex-husband bought out her interest in a petite, 13-foot wide townhouse in New York City's East Village they bought in 2005 for $3.4 million. At about the same time, the then newly wedded Craig-Weisz's shelled out a downright proper $10.8 million for a lofty 4,350 square foot triplex penthouse in SoHo that listing details from the time show had, 60-foot long living/dining/kitchen area plus a cozier den with fireplace, 2-4 bedrooms depending on usage, three full bathrooms, one big kitchen and a second kitchenette on the uppermost level, and three interconnected terraces that add about 2,000 additional square feet of living space.

*A few quick clicks and clacks on Your Mama's handy-dandy currency conversion contraption shows that amounts to $18,658,800 (U.S.) and €14,129,400 for the Continentals.

Your Mama Hears...

...that teen-aged British boy bander Harry Styles of One Direction might be in the market for a pricey new pad in the Miami area. We can't verify the veracity of the real estate rumor but and inside source we'll call Jimmy Jibberjabber swears the four-nippled heartthrob's people twice peeped a swish and sybaritic bay-front pad in a swanky gated enclave in Key Biscayne, FL, that's currently on the market with a $19,500,000 price tag.

Digital listing details show the newly constructed and partially marble-clad contemporary has a total of six en suite bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms in 6,544 square feet spread over four floors of indoor living space plus what looks to Your Mama like several thousand more square feet of luxuriously appointed outdoor living areas.

In addition to a center hall entry with 30-foot ceiling and dark-stained white oak staircase, the mansion's interior spaces include an L-shaped great room with generous living and dining areas that spill out to a glass-railed terrace that spans the full-width of the house, a sleek, all-white SieMatic-brand eat-in kitchen, and a separate media room with a 64-in built-in flat screen television.

The second floor master suite has panoramic water views, a custom-designed ceiling with LED lighting, dual walk-in closets with custom shelving, a private terrace with outdoor shower area, and a bespoke, rock-star style bathroom with, top-grade fixtures, glass counter tops, white quartz flooring, a white glass tile shower enclosure, and a 26-inch television in the mirror above the double sink vanity.

Up on the third floor, a glass-railed roof top pavilion opens to a wrap-around roof-top terrace with imitation grass patch, expansive dining and lounging areas, an open air work-out area with a television flush mounted into the wall under the deep eaves, and a sexy-sexy negative-edge plunge pool surrounded by Ipe wood decking. That's right, puppies, there's a (small) swimming pool on the roof.

Back on the ground there are more outdoor living spaces that include a vast, limestone-floored covered lounge area that gives way to a grassy area with custom outdoor seating. On the side of the house there's a second negative edge swimming pool with charcoal tiles and at the back there's a 40-foot dock for parking water craft

Other features of note include numerous balconies with glass balustrades, an elevator, a state-of-the-art home automation system, custom exterior lighting, and a four-car garage.

Key Biscayne, about 15 miles by car from the heart of South Beach and accessible only by way of the Rickenbacker Causeway causeway, doesn't carry the glitzy panache of South Beach or the hyper-exclusivity of, say, Indian Creek but the itty-bitty island community has certainly had a healthy handful of high profile home owners: two-time gold medal winning professional tennis player Mary Joe Fernández; Brazilian race car driver Emerson Fittipaldi—whose canal-front house is currently listed for $13.8 million; disgraced U.S. president Richard Nixon; Showbiz superstar Cher; architecture and design savvy Tinseltowner Brad Pitt; billionaire art world honcho Martin Margulies, a man with a staggering, museum-quality collection of contemporary art worth nearly a billion dollars.

Last year, when he was dating notoriously vindictive country-pop star Taylor Swift, all us international property gossips went hog wild when the shaggy-haired global phenom splashed out around £3,000,000 for a (walled and gated) bachelor pad in North London's Hampstead Heath area.

Mister Jibberjabber snitched to Your Mama that other boys in the band have also recently picked up bachelor pads of their own: Zayn Malik scooped up a £3 million modern residence in the North London village of Arkley; Louie Tomlinson bought a Georgian-style house a few miles away in Hendon for about £2.5 million; Niall Horan, who is rumored to own a multi-million dollar manse in the horse-friendly and celebrity-packed community of Hidden Hills in suburban Los Angeles, paid about £2.2 million for the Brookmans Park (Hertfordshire) flat of boy bander Marvin Humes of JLS. Although Liam Payne was spotted touring a penthouse property in North London's Primrose Hill last year, we confess we have no idea if he pulled the trigger or if he's still shacked up on his parent's farm.
