BUYER: Steve Carell
LOCATION: Toluca Lake, CA
PRICE: $6,000,000
SIZE: 5,126 square feet, 6 bedroom, 5 bathroom
YOUR MAMAS NOTES: We heard this deal was going down a long time ago but unfortunately forgot about it until reminded by the bizzy boys at Celebrity Address Aerial yesterday. The reigning king of comedy Steve Carell (The Office, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Little Miss Sunshine, Get Smart) has splashed out on new digs paying an even-steven $6,000,000 for the Toluca Lake, CA estate of sassy comedic icon Jonathan Winters.
Property records show the 1.27 acre estate includes a 5,126 square foot traditional style house with 6 bedrooms and 5 poopers. One side of the double gated circular drive swings by the front door and through a porte cochere to a massive motor court and the other side swoops around the house and directly into the motor court. At the back of the heavily treed property is a free-form swimming pool with adjacent pool house and for some bizarre and stoopid reason a tennis court has been slammed up against the back of the house. Your Mama hopes that Mister and Missus Carell figure out a way to swap the swimming pool and tennis court without doing much if any damage to the many mature shade trees that dot the property.
It does not appear to Your Mama that the Winters' property was on the open market.
The upscale but down to earth Toluca Lake neighborhood is filled to the gills with high profile people such as Miley Cyrus who owns her own recently purchased property that's just around the corner from her family's spread, Eric McCormack, Markie Post, Swoosie Kurtz, Andy Garcia, Demi Lovato, and Ashley Tisdale just to name a few.
Since May of 2006 another of Mister Winters' other famous neighbors has been none other than Steve Carell who has owned a 6,657 square foot house with 5 bedrooms and 6 poopers that is literally just around the corner from his new home. Mister and Missus Carell, actress Nancy Carell, also own a modest 4 bedroom and 2.5 pooper home in Marshfield, MA that records show they purchased in July of 2005 for $790,000.
The aged Mister Winters, we presume but do not know, moved to his 3+ acre estate in magnificently expensive Montecito, CA where he and the wife–who passed on in January of 2009–were smart enough to buy way back in 1990 when it didn't cost ten or twelve million for a piece of shit shack.
